City Arts Nashua raised funds to restore an authentic fresco mural owned by the City, Margaret’s View of Nashua, located in the lobby of the Janice Streeter Theatre at 14 Court Street in Historic Downtown Nashua.

Here is a piece "Nashua City Arts Restores Precious Fresco Painting" by Sheryl Rich-Kern, New Hampshire Public Radio about the restoration of the Margaret's View of Nashua mural. City Arts Nashua raised funds to restore the piece and hired Liza Leto Fulton, a conservator, to serve as as the detective, scientist and art historian behind the mural restoration.

It was painted by renowned artist Lucienne Bloch in 1992 at age 83 using the centuries-old method of painting on a fresh, moist plaster with colors dissolved in water. The plaster was created by her husband and collaborator, Steven Dimitroff.

The mural was commissioned by Margaret Swart, one of the founders and leading benefactors of the Nashua Center for the Arts. She was friends with the Dimitroffs, however, she died before the mural was completed and it was dedicated in her memory.

Without a plaque, few people know of the importance of this significant piece of public art. It is now roped off to protect it from further damage. The valuable mural was evaluated by Liza Leto Fulton, a Boston-based fresco restoration expert.

She and her team restored it; the project was budgeted at $18,000 including a plaque.

City Arts Nashua raised many donations from individuals and businesses, including a “Random Act of Kindness” donation by Enterprise Bank toward the restoration in honor of the opening of their Amherst Street office. The photo above shows Dan Snyder of Enterprise Bank presenting the check to Judith Carlson, Vice President of City Arts Nashua. The second photo shows Liza Leto Fulton examining the mural.
